Lucknow Student Assault Video Goes Viral: Outrage Mounts Over Police Inaction in Uttar

PradeshLucknow, December 3, 2025
- A shocking 74-second video showing the brutal assault of a young female student, identified as Shalini Chaurasia, inside her rented accommodation in Lucknow has sparked nationwide outrage after it went viral on social media with over 3 million views and 3,000+ reposts in less than 48 hours. The disturbing footage, originally recorded on CCTV, shows three unidentified men forcibly entering the victim’s room at night. One intruder is seen grabbing Shalini by the neck and hair while she screams and desperately tries to fight back. The assailants eventually drag her out of frame as she pleads for help.According to sources, the incident took place in October 2025 following a dispute with neighbors in a housing society in Gomti Nagar Extension. Despite the clear evidence and the victim’s repeated visits to the local police station, an FIR is yet to be registered – even weeks later.Social media users, led by the viral post from @Vini____007
that tagged Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and UP Police, have accused authorities of shielding influential accused and allowing “goonda raj” to prevail. “How many more daughters must be assaulted before UP Police acts?” the post read, triggering a flood of angry reactions under hashtags #JusticeForShalini and

#ArrestTheAccused. Women’s rights activists have slammed the delay, pointing out that Uttar Pradesh continues to report over 50,000 crimes against women annually (NCRB 2024), with frequent allegations of police reluctance to register complaints against powerful individuals. As public pressure intensifies, senior police officials have assured that the matter is being investigated and strict action will be taken. However, no arrests have been made so far.The victim’s family has appealed to the CM for immediate intervention, demanding registration of FIR and swift justice.(Word count: 300)
